If cable television and magazine covers are any type of indicator, home improvement is akin to a national pastime for Americans. Home Depot already knows this and the company offers year-round home improvement education opportunities for adults (and kids) that are designed to be relevant to both the region and the season in which they are offered.
The Home Depot Home Improver Club is designed to teach locals how to do home improvement the right way. After attending a workshop, participants might very well decide not to call that tile guy, or even cancel the current expense of a gardener. Home Depot’s in-store workshops are packed with information and fun, and can give participants that needed boost in confidence to tackle a project.
The Home Improvement Club’s workshops include three categories of offerings; weekly, do-it-herself and kids workshops. The classes take place at stores in Yucca Valley, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Palm Desert and Indio.
The weekly workshop offerings in July are Exterior Paint and Stains, Installing Laminate Flooring, Energy Savings Products for the Summer, and First Aid for Your Yard. July’s do-it-herself offering is Eco-Gardening featuring Martha Stewart Living products. There are no kids workshops slated for July.
To attend these workshops, participants must join Home Depot’s online Home Improver Club first, then register for the workshop. Project sheets and workshop schedules are hosted on the club site where members can elect to electronically receive home maintenance and upkeep information, sale alerts, projects specifically geared to the local weekend weather, and an email newsletter.
